Two New Fortifieds for Your Christmas Table

Just in time for your Christmas celebrations, we have released two new fortified wines. Whilst both are produced in the ‘port’ style, they are two very different wines expressing the distinctive seasons from which they were made. Great Wines Are Made in the Vineyard

There's no better winemaking adage than "great wines are made in the vineyard". You can do the fanciest science with the ferments and buy the best oak, but unless the fruit is in top condition once it hits the winery during vintage, it's like trying to use cheap plastic wrap...it just doesn't work. Our vineyards have been a top priority over the last few years and when Ruston Prescott joined Stanton & Killeen as our Viticulturist in December 2013, he and his team had their work cut out for them.  Continue reading...

Vintage 2016 Winemaker's Report

It was an early start to vintage, picking Chardonnay the day before Australia Day, but we had expected it so we were (sort of) ready for it. The next cab off the rank was the muscat for Moscato and Sparkling Muscat Blanc – this must be a bit of a winemaking record; we picked on the 4th February and bottled on the 9th of March! As is usual for vintage, it was days of frenetic activity as this early fruit came in, followed by a bit of a “phony vintage” lull, and then it all kicked off again. Continue reading...

The Prince Returns!

In 2008 and 2009, we produced a savoury, Portuguese-inspired style of red table wine in honour of sixth generation Chris Killeen (08.07.54-19.06.07), affectionately known as "The Prince of Port". Using four different varieties usually reserved for our Vintage Fortifieds, the 2008 was a blend of 30% Souzão, 26% Tinta Roriz, 22% Tinto Cao and 22% Touriga Nacional. Recent tastings have proven these Iberian varieties varieties have staying power and meld superbly to create a mouth-filling food wine.  Continue reading...
