Jack's Back

Friday, May 26, 2017

When Jack Stanton planted a block of Shiraz in 1921, it was only a few years after he had returned from war and Australia was greeting the new decade with cautious optimism. With the help of his father - third generation winemaker John Richard Stanton -Jack established his own winery not far from the original Stanton property. Almost 100 years later, and after much patience and care in rejuvenating this very old vineyard, we have released one of our most special wines, the 2016 Jack’s Block Shiraz. Continue reading...

Autumn Quinta Quarterly

Thursday, March 02, 2017

We are now into Week Four of vintage and have picked Chardonnay, Muscat (for Moscato and Sparkling Muscat Blanc) and Tinta Roriz. It’s an exciting time, and an event that culminates a year’s worth of decisions and hard work in the vineyard and winery. The Return of Jack's Block?

Tuesday, July 26, 2016

Our vineyards have been a top priority over the last few years and when Ruston Prescott joined Stanton & Killeen as our Viticulturist in December 2013, he and his team had their work cut out for them.  Continue reading...

Vintage 2016 Vineyard Report

Friday, May 27, 2016

The journey to harvest in 2016 proved to be a bumpy ride. Winter and spring of 2015 were both warmer than usual, with October and November giving us unusual temperature spikes 6°C above average.  Whilst many people were delighted with an early start to summer (we at least were pleased about the lack of frosts in September and October), our vineyards experienced very early flowering patterns as a result of the warmer weather.  Continue reading...

Vineyards for the Future

Thursday, October 30, 2014

Since Ruston Prescott joined the S&K team in December 2013, we have seen an amazing transformation of our vineyards. When he started, the family encouraged Ruston to implement the latest technologies, vineyard practices and management skills he gained whilst working at highly regarded wineries Levantine Hill and Voyager Estates.  Continue reading...
