We’ve got something to make a racket about here at Stanton & Killeen! We have a fabulous new winemaker, Andrew Drumm, who has joined the team this week. Not only is he a skilled and passionate winemaker, Andrew has a wealth of experience in the wine industry including business management, branding and communications.
You may already be familiar with his wine, having been the winemaker and business manager of Charles Sturt University’s commercial winery, Charles Sturt Wines. The university is known for their high quality wine as well as utilising the latest research and development in winemaking techniques. Having taught many students over the years who now are enjoying careers around the country, Andrew has experience in making all styles of wine including fortifieds.
Andrew is excited about working with Stanton and Killeen’s Iberian varieties including Tempranillo and Touriga Nacional, as he has worked with these varieties previously at CSU, not to mention that they are his favourite styles of wine to enjoy with a big, juicy steak! You can read more about Andrew here in the ‘Our Team’ section of the website.
We’ve got a pretty wonderful team here at S&K, and have some exciting things on the horizon. Our equally wonderful Vineyard Manager, Ruston Prescott who started in December 2013, has been busy transforming our vineyards to be the best they can be. With an extensive nutrition program underway, new post and trellising installed and vineyards being built for some new varieties, we are excited about the changes that are happening every day here at Jacks Road, Rutherglen.
Want to meet the team and be the first to hear about our future plans? Join us for a weekend of fun, food and wine at our bi-annual Port and Barrel Weekend on October 4-5th.
