We are very excited to release our new 2018 Reserve Tinta Roriz, 2018 The Prince Iberian Blend and 2017 Vintage Fortified. Last year we started a rebranding project with the very talented Claudia Passera from Cloudy Co Design; The Prince being one of the more challenging wines to redesign.
First released in 2008 as ‘The Prince Reserva’ in honour of my father Chris Killeen “The Prince of Port”, we discovered new labelling laws determined that we can no longer use the terms ‘Reserva’ or ‘Port’ (even if we use it on the back label to tell the story of why Chris was called “The Prince of Port”). It’s one of our most special wines and every year is a different blend of the Portuguese varieties he planted for his unique style of Vintage Fortified. The new label features the term ‘Iberian Blend’ to better communicate the type of wine that it is and the origins of where these varieties originated. The Iberian Peninsula, the land mass that is Portugal and Spain, has a climate very similar to Rutherglen’s. Dad loved this region and their wine.
Tinta Roriz, also known as Tempranillo in Spanish, is a key Portuguese variety that Dad planted in the early 1990s. We use both of these terms across the seven different wines that we make using this variety. Our Reserve Tempranillo has been renamed Reserve Tinta Roriz to help differentiate between the drink-now, light and bright unoaked Tempranillo. The Reserve Tinta Roriz is more developed and complex with our best rows of fruit chosen to mature in oak.
Another change you may have noticed is that we usually release our Vintage Fortified closer to Christmas, however we’ve listened to member feedback and are moving it to the colder months. We’ve brought forward the release of the 2017 to this season’s packs and we’ll be aiming to release the 2018 Vintage Fortified in the Winter Packs next year. We are very flexible with wine packs and deliveries and are always happy to swap out wine for your favourites, as well as delaying postage if you know you will be away. We hope you enjoy these new releases!
Cheers, Natasha Killeen

Reserve Tinta Roriz 2018
We find this variety incredibly versatile as we use it in our sparkling red, rosé, a variety of red table wine styles and fortified wine. For this rich and flavoursome table wine, we reserved the best rows and picked mid-season. A longer ferment of 7 days ensured optimal palate weight and only French oak puncheons were chosen for maturation. Aromas of rosemary and sage combine with a palate of plums and blackberries. Enjoy with rosemary roast lamb.Buy Online
